Description

This indulgent make-ahead breakfast combines cinnamon rolls and French toast into a creamy overnight bake topped with a bourbon-maple glaze. It’s perfect for effortless weekend brunches or holiday mornings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1–2 tablespoons bourbon (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter for glaze
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon for glaze
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • Instructions

    1. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

    2. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and layer evenly in the dish.

    3. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, maple syrup, bourbon, melted butter, and salt until combined.

    4. Pour the custard mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces, press gently to soak, cover and refrigerate overnight.

    5. Preheat oven to 350°F and let the casserole sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.

    6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.

    7. While baking, melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stir in maple syrup and bourbon, simmer 1–2 minutes.

    8. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar until smooth.

    9. Let the casserole cool 10 minutes then drizzle the warm glaze over the top.

    10. Slice and serve warm, optionally with reserved icing or whipped cream.
