3. In a large bowl whisk melted butter, brown sugar, molasses, egg, and vanilla until smooth, then stir in the buttermilk.

5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed with minimal streaks of flour remaining.
6. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about three quarters full.
7. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 375°F and bake for 12–14 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
